I have a long history with Hoxeyville Music Festival from its inception as an attendee. I have actually lived in Hoxeyville and take the Michigan roots festival and its family very seriously. I would drive home for it when I lived in Colorado, and have only missed one. Hoxeyville started in 2002 as a major music festival in Northern Michigan. Their past performers include a long list of serious national talent including Bruce Hornsby, Buddy Guy, Mickey Hart, Umphree’s Mcgee, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Greensky Bluegrass, Joshua Davis and a slew of other crazy talented Michigan native musicians.
I have been working with Hoxeyville as their artist and graphic designer since 2011. Over the years the festival, the artwork and the reputation have grown. Our design relationship started with a poster and two tee shirt designs. Over time I have worked on their social media marketing, programs & maps, e-newsletter campaigns, posters, apparel including shirts and hats for kids and adults, websites, stickers and even meal tickets for artists.
It’s been a true joy to see the designs work their magic along with all the talented bands that attract people to Wellston, Michigan every year. When I began working with Hoxeyville in 2011, I took over posting on their Facebook page with branded professional photographs to keep energy and momentum high. Their Facebook fan base was at around 7K, and has since grown to over 13K followers. December 2014 I helped them into a new website so they could better manage ticket sales, and saved them significant processing fees from big box ticket sellers. People have been loving the last few years of artwork, and that has prompted new merchandise outlets such as selling posters, stickers and even opening a shop online.
