The Plump Pumpkin are a local food co-op, pottery studio, soapery and wood turning studio in Luther, Michigan. I began working with them on their logo in 2013. The challenge for the logo was that they had an established clip-art pumpkin graphic that they had been using for many years. The farm is so multifaceted, I felt they needed some hand illustration and a few logo variations to describe the various parts of the business.
What we landed on is this illustrated system that can be broken up as pieces or used together to guide people through their business. The pumpkin acts as the main farm logo and is also used in reference to the food co-op. It’s the umbrella for all the arms of the business. There are also some illustrated Michigan mugs that represent the pottery studio, some wrapped bars of soap for the soapery, and some wood turned bowls for the wood shop.
The Pumpkins fully upgraded into the digital realm and began using the new branding all over town. They now have some fabulous packaging for their soaps including a colorful back label with ingredients. They have a fun rustic business card that they can leave with their rustic soap displays in stores. They have a website that they are able to do sales on, and their Facebook page is full of current images of inner workings at the farm.
