I started volunteering as a board member for the Wexford County Historical Society located in Cadillac, Michigan in May 2014. The society maintains, manages and fundraises to keep an original Carnegie Library functioning with historical artifacts to the area. The building itself is inspiring, and I wanted to be a part of something that would help to preserve the history of my home town. Of the 61 built in Michigan, only 50 remain standing and in use.
I have donated my design since the beginning, seeing a need for a consistent logo and identity system. There are many communications for the museum, all of which used a different logo, fonts, colors, patterns and type styles. I cleaned it up and donated a modern and utilitarian logo that could be taken seriously by donors and the community.
In addition to the identity system, I also started an email newsletter program, donated fresh design for events that gave them a face lift across the community and have helped their Facebook fan page grow by 400 fans in the last 18 months. Up next is a complete redesign of their website in partner with Bit Social Media.
