Description:
In 2021, I participated in Hope is Action, a print exhibition and exchange sponsored by The Printing Museum in Houston and Ladies of Letterpress. For this project, I created an edition of 60 prints, all centered around the theme “Hope is Action.” The process was a true labor of love, combining several hands-on techniques.
I hand-drew and carved a linoleum block featuring a background of coffee cups, which I then printed using my early 1900s Chandler & Price letterpress. The phrase featured on the print came from my stash of #HOMwork lettering challenges, which I refined and had burned into a photopolymer plate. My partner Josh and I printed both the hand-lettered phrase and the colophon using the Chandler & Price press. To finish each piece, I added a watercolor wash behind the text, giving every print a unique, vibrant touch.
The entire Hope is Action print exchange collection was exhibited at multiple galleries across the country, including The Printing Museum in Houston. It was an honor to have my work displayed alongside pieces from other talented printmakers, contributing to a project rooted in creativity and collective hope.
