wedding invitation suite

In 2021, I got the opportunity to create a wedding invitation suite for a good friend of mine. I designed the invitations to reflect her wedding plans and theme - a sacred union ceremony under the full moon. We chose to print the cards at @smartpress and printed the belly bands on my Chandler & Price press. The envelopes and bands are Jelly Bean Green @frenchpaperco Pop-Tone, and the Kraft paper sunset image was also printed on French Speckletone.

Shout out to Josh, my print shop manager and press operator for all his help printing 250 belly bands!

She sent me this message about the wedding invitations I created for her: “I have to tell you I’ve gotten so many compliments on our wedding invitations. I had one gal tell me that over the years, she’s received a lot of invitations and ours was by far the most beautiful invitation she’s ever seen. I always give you 100% of the credit. They are gorgeous invitations. I always tell people the only thing I did was pick the colors, and you did everything else. Thank you again for doing my invitations.”

Feels good to create things from your heart, people can see and feel the love put into them.

Letterpress Printing

This is a video of my letterpress printing the belly bands for Stephanie & TJ’s wedding invitations. The press is a 12 x 9 Chandler and Price platen press from around 1910. It was used at the University of Michigan before it was brought up north to be used at Pioneer Press in Bear Lake Michigan, for decades before I acquired it in 2017.
